NYC-based synth-pop duo 88 Palms announce their new EP Love Safari out May 25th. Recorded at Midnight Sun Studios in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, the EP features Caito Sanchez (Midnight Magic, Charles Bradley, Lee Fields) on percussion, Jim Orso (Escort) and Tyler Pope (LCD Soundsystem) on bass, and Nick Roseboro (Midnight Magic) on horns with mixing by Jonathan Kreinik and mastering by Abe Seiferth (Transmitter Park Studios).

The band also shares a video for the single “Bright Lights” from the forthcoming EP.

Love Safari is a journey through a world in which everything moves in slow motion. It’s a club lit in neon lights, with a disco ball spinning. It’s a lover by the beach. It’s a journey into the jungles of the heart, searching for something elusive, Love. It’s a fun and lighthearted take on a sensual night out, and a longing for something more.

Grown from a mutual love of vintage synthesizers, classic disco, and house, 88 Palms is Morgan Wiley of Midnight Magic, ex Hercules & Love Affair on keyboards and production, with vocalist/songwriter Ria Bouttier realizing their beachy, tropical disco dreams.

The pair met in 2014 and one fateful winter night in late 2015 deep inside Midnight Sun Studios in Brooklyn, dreaming of a tropical escape, 88 Palms was born. 88 Palms is a re-awakening of disco crate digging, a throwback to the glory days and decadence of Studio 54, with an updated look and sound.

Having both performed and DJed in various clubs and venues around the world, 88 Palms is equally at home at a daytime poolside show oozing decadent downtempo, or in the pounding house kicks of an underground warehouse party.

88 Palms showcases a wide range of influences from Jazz, Soul, Funk, Boogie, Blues, Techno, House, Disco, Electronica to Psych, resulting in a sultry, synth-pop fueled beachside dance sound.  Hailing from the deserts of Las Vegas and Utah, as well as Los Angeles, 88 Palms brings together spacious sonic landscapes of the West with the tight production sounds of classic New York dance music.

The band has been playing live in New York City since 2017. 2018 sees 88 Palms solidifying the live lineup with Jim Orso on drums and Caito Sanchez on bass, as well as playing shows across the US. 88 Palms is always in some phase of recording exciting new material for upcoming releases.
