It is the 1970, three guys Bryan May (guitarist), Roger Taylor and Farrock Bulsara (Freddie Mercury) created one of the most famous rock n roll band of all time: THE QUEEN
Another member will soon join the band, the base guitarist John Deacon.
Freddie Mercury would have said about the band: ” we want to be dandy, we want to be glam, we want to be THE QUEEN”
The 1975 is the year of one masterpiece of the band : Bohemian Rhapsody, during the same year that , in London, the Sex Pistols played together for the first time.
This song is a mix between opera, ballet and ROCK N ROLL that last six minutes….so long for the managers of EMI at that time that, apparently, they refused to play the song the first time till, a dj friend of Freddy, decided to play it 14 times per day at the radio.
The fans started to call EMI that finally decided to publish it.
The opera part required a work of 7 consecutive days, 10 hours per day and it is made by 180 vocal parts.
The lyric, seen what happened to Freddie, are kind of foreseeing the future:
Mama, life had just begun
But now I’ve gone and thrown it all away
Mama, ooo
Didn’t mean to make you cry
If I’m not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters
Too late, my time has come
Sends shivers down my spine
Body’s aching all the time
Goodbye everybody – I’ve got to go
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth
Mama, ooo – (any way the wind blows)
I don’t want to die
I sometimes wish I’d never been born at all
Well, Freddie, we thank you for being able to gift us so much.
