Fresh off the release of her debut EP ‘Strangers‘ and glowing critical acclaim, Mallory Merk today announced her signing with Warner Records. The Louisiana-born, NYC-raised 20-year-old has been quietly making a name for herself over the past few years, cutting her teeth in the modeling world for the likes of Yeezy, Gucci, and Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty before linking up with Zack Bia and James Canton’s Field Trip Records in 2019. Mallory made her official music debut earlier this year with “Ghosts,” attracting the attention of cultural influencers like Kendall Jenner and Taco – as well as Warner Records. Now signed to the major label in partnership with Field Trip Records and managed by Kayode Badmus-Wellington’s drtymnd collective, the fashion, press, and alt-R&B darling is gearing up for new music to come in 2021. But in the meantime, she has shared the video for her debut EP’s title track – watch “Strangers” below.
Mallory Merk says, “Since becoming a part of my family at Field Trip, I have grown as an artist and, more importantly, as a person. I am inspired by this new journey with my Warner team and how we will make a positive impact together through music.”
“Mallory has a voice and story to tell that cuts through the clutter. One listen to the demos that Gunner Safron and Miles Gersh on my A&R team shared with me made it clear that Mallory was an unbelievably special raw talent that just needed a platform,” said Aaron Bay-Schuck, CEO and co-Chairman, Warner Records. “Her relationships and support from and within the artist and influencer community alike demonstrate that even early in her career, Mallory’s reach is significant. Zack and James at Field Trip are the perfect partners who expertly understand how to break an artist in 2020 and beyond.“
Zack Bia and James Canton from Field Trip Records add, “The moment we met Mallory we knew how great she was. Her unmatched taste level and incredible character as a human were an immediate draw, and we’re lucky to work with her every day and to help amplify such a special creative vision. To amplify it even further, we deeply respect Aaron Bay-Schuck and Tom Corson and how they’re reimagining Warner Records, so they were a natural call. We’re beyond excited to work with our close friends there, and we’re looking forward to Mallory and us being a part of Warner Records’ continued excellence.”
Stay tuned for more to come from Mallory Merk in the New Year!
