Adage (http://www.reverbnation.com/adageband) is having their new EP released very soon! Justin (vocals/guitar) and the band answered to our questions….

RYL: Congratulations for the new EP “Defined”, we loved the songs! How are you preparing this month before its release?

ADAGE: Thanks so much! We are glad you like it. We are getting a video for the song “Hold On” ready and hopefully it will be done around the album release Aug 19th.  After the release we will be putting together some shows to promote and tour the album. Nothing on touring is set in stone yet.

RYL: Our favorite song is “Growing Colder”, do you remember writing it?

ADAGE: Justin-Absolutely. I loved writing that song. It was one that came together so quickly. I had a few riffs ideas then the lyrics and melody just flowed.

RYL: How do you write the lyrics of your songs?

ADAGE: I have a ton of riffs and just melodies. I may sit on these unused riffs and melodies for months until one quick moment I will grab a notepad and write the lyrics to a chorus. Once I get an idea of the songs melody and structure with the hook.

It’s easier to feel how the song wants to transition. So fill in the pieces and you have a song.  The story of the song was always there. Just had to find a way to describe how the music of the song made me feel.

RYL: What was the most difficult thing in preparing this EP?

ADAGE: The social media side of it is always the hardest in my opinion. The musical side is easy because it’s something we are good at and really enjoy doing.

But the plugging away and finding ways to share and get your music heard is a real test of patience for someone who isn’t gifted in those areas. It’s a lot of hard work but it’s defiantly worth it.

RYL: Tell us everything about “By Myself”….

ADAGE: Justin-“By Myself” is about my son. When he was born there were a lot of complications. And we were told to expect the worst.

During that time of not knowing what would happen. I wrote a song from what I imagined his point of view was. Being in that hospital for almost 6 months I couldn’t help but write. He is perfectly healthy now and its one of his favorite songs.  It is my most personal song and I hope it asks a lot of questions that our listeners may have themselves.

RYL: Which is your favorite RNR song and verse?

ADAGE: Justin- “Hollow” by Submersed.

RYL: When do you plan to release a full length album?

ADAGE: Hopefully the summer of 2015.

RYL: Which was the last song you wrote?

ADAGE: We are currently writing in anticipation for our next full length album.  But off of the E.P, the newest song was “Hold On” being only a few months old before recording and releasing.

RYL: Tell us about the upcoming tour..

ADAGE: We are working on a tour after our release with Pavement Entertainment. Nothing is set in stone at the moment.

RYL: What “Hold on” means for you?

ADAGE: “Hold On” is a revelation in the struggles of the heart. Everyone has been in a relationship that they wanted to be better, whether it’s with a friend or family member. And in some cases you have to fix yourself. So in that process there is the plea for patience and this is that in song.
