The Recording Academy announced that multi-platinum GRAMMY® Award-winning Sacramento band Deftones has been nominated for two GRAMMY’s at the 2022 GRAMMY Awards taking place on January 31, 2022. The band has received nominations for Best Rock Performance for “Ohms,” the title track of their 9th studio album, as well as a nomination for Best Metal Performance for “Genesis,” the second single from the ‘Ohms’ LP on Warner Records.
In addition, the Mike Shinoda remix of Deftones’ classic track “Passenger” has been nominated for Best Remixed Recording. This remix of “Passenger” off the 20 Year Anniversary White Pony remix album titled ‘Black Stallion was released in December of 2020. The band said of the nominations
This is the kind of news that’s great to wake up to. We’re so honored to have ‘Genesis’ and ‘Ohms’ recognized. They were released during a very uncertain time with music and the world alike, so to have them resonate the way they did is really special for us.
Thanks to Mike Shinoda as well, and congratulations for his nomination. He did an amazing job with Passenger.
Ohms,’ which was released in September of 2020 bowed at #5 on the Billboard Top 200 and marked the sixth consecutive Top 10 debut and fourth Top 5 entry from the band comprised of Chino Moreno, Frank Delgado, Stephen Carpenter, and Abe Cunningham.
