Let’s talk about your new album Finally that was released on  May 11th. Is there a link/something that connects all the lyrics of the album?

There’s a loose narrative about a space cowboy that’s been separated from his girl by galactic war. He’s on his way to find her and he’s singing to himself, remembering her.

Are you ever scared of revealing, aspects of your personal experience, to strangers through your music?

Yes and no. Lyrics are always a bit of a public growing experience.

What has your journey in the music industry been like up to now?

Peripheral. I’ve been working on projects for a while now, for both myself and others. This project is probably more of a direct fresh foot forward in a lot of ways.

What was the soundtrack to your childhood?
The Beatles

What was the first record you ever bought?

A Hard Days Night

What is your favorite song (not written by you) lyrically speaking?

“God Only Knows” by The Beach Boys (Brian Wilson lol) is my favorite song ever. Everything about it is perfect. The lyrics are so honest and haunting and bold and reassuring all at the same time.

What inspired “Lose Control”?

An old piano in a writing room in Sydney. It was a hot summer day. I don’t usually VYGR stuff from an acoustic instrument. It just had this cool vibe. The lyrics came fairly quickly. Aodhan and I are fairly familiar with love gone sour and redemptive motif.

Do you remember the day you wrote “Not Alone”?

Yes. Another hot Sydney day, in the backyard of my in-laws place (thanks Mum and Dad); played the piano motif on this tiny little trigger keyboard and everything just came. I get piano hooks and then the melodies flow.

What inspired “Stomach”?

Watching all my married friends leave NYC and move to Montclair NJ. Is it the death of a dream or the fruition of one? I think the latter.

What are your plans for 2018?

Become a better person.
