FUNZALO RECORDS BAND STATIC AND SURRENDER DEBUT ALBUM OUT JULY 13

San Francisco based Static and Surrender are Jeff Campbell [lead vocals, guitar], Adam Schuman [guitar, vocals], John Schuman [drums], and Lauren Stockner (bass). The foursome was recently signed to Funzalo Records and are currently touring throughout California giving fans a preview of their debut album to be released on July 13.

Brothers John and Adam had already established themselves as popular Bay Area players, with The Trophy Fire, a unit that garnered critical acclaim and played alongside everyone from Dredg to The Dear Hunter. Within that same scene, Jeff earned recognition by receiving national songwriting awards, shared the stage with artists such as John Mayer, and fronted Pine and Battery, among others. One night, a chance encounter between Jeff and Adam paved the way for what would become Static and Surrender.

“I ran into Adam and his wife at a restaurant,” recalls Jeff. “We started talking about the static and stagnation we’d both been feeling about our careers, and how we’d both sort of surrendered to it. A day later, he sent me a bunch of demos. As soon as I heard them, it just felt right.” “We had known each other just by way of playing music,” adds Adam. “There was a mutual admiration from afar.”

They wasted no time and entered a Berkeley, CA studio with producer Jim Greer [The Rondo Brothers, Foster the People,) to bring their ideas to life. They also quickly caught the attention of Los Angeles based Funzalo Records label head Mike Lembo, who flew to San Francisco to see them live and immediately liked what he heard.
