Seven Live Bands and More, Over Three Days of Nonstop Entertainment at Gulf Bike Week

Juliana Down, Sandwash, Maplejacks, Salha & The Million Dollar Band to Perform Amongst Others

Dubai-UAE: 12 September 2013 – Clarion Events Middle East, today announced, the first seven artists in the line-up for Gulf Bike Week 2013 taking place at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre from October 24 to 26.

Bands playing include: Maplejacks, Boxtones, Juliana Down, Sandwash, Salha & The Million Dollar Band, Riff Raff, and Screemin Egulz. Complementing the bands will also be DJ’s spinning the latest tracks to keep crowds going all day long.

In addition the winner of the ‘Rolling Stone Middle East Street to Stage’ competition – developed to help Rolling Stone and Sony Music find the best unsigned artist in the Middle East – will perform for the crowds at Gulf Bike Week.

Pauline Ryan, Marketing Manager, Clarion Events Middle East, said: “This year’s show has a new all-day festival format, and has returned to Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, where the event was born back in 2007. Gulf Bike Week 2013 presents a fantastic line-up of the best regional and local bands playing across the three days in an open air festival, right at the start of Dubai’s outdoor season.

“There is one ticket price of AED 60 for a Day Pass – this gives you full-festival access to all day live local bands and DJs, entertainment, great food & beverage outlets, and of course the Bike Show. The new festival format and great venue will provide a great long weekend of fun and entertainment for families and bike enthusiasts.”

Drew Jones, Singer and Guitarist with The Maplejacks, said: “We are thrilled to be performing for the first time at Gulf Bike Week, especially with its new format, and all the other local bands performing. It’s only at events like these where we really get to enjoy other local bands as we’re crazy busy at this time of year. We have a couple of new songs to try out, so we’re looking forward to giving them an airing – you never really know what the mood is going to be in Dubai. So sometimes we end up building the setlist from pop songs from the last couple of years; other nights everyone wants more of the classic sing-alongs, and on a good night, the crowd lets us dust of some almighty rock and indie songs!

“The Maplejacks have been playing around the Gulf around for nearly eight years, and we’ve found that big events where we get to bounce around a good-sized stage are where the band really comes into its own. It will be great to see a lot of new faces across the three days –  the new setting, thousands of visitors, bikers, food, and all the activities to get involved in will make it truly feel like we’re part of a real festival.”

Gary Tierney, Managing Director, The Boxtones, said: “The Boxtones are really excited about Gulf Bike Week this year. For the first time, an event of this size is pushing the boat out and hosting local talent to perform on the stage. We will be playing all three days, and will be rattling our original music into your heads. Fresh off the Rolling Stone ME’S Street to Stage Grand Final’s competition, we hope you’ve heard about us, watched our music videos or even listened to our new tracks for our upcoming album ‘In the Pockets of Clowns’ due for October release.”

Visitors will be entertained from early afternoon till the end of the show across all three days. Day one of the Gulf Bike Week music festival commences at 04:00pm and concludes for the day at 11:00pm. Day two and three begin at 02:00pm and conclude at 11:00pm and 09:30pm respectively.

Organised by Clarion Events Middle East and brought to you by Dubai Calendar, Gulf Bike Week has established itself as one of the most popular bike festivals in the Gulf; the festival has been consistently successful since its initiation in 2009. It’s one of the few festivals that has been able to draw not just increased visitors from across the region, but also VIP’s, royalty and international celebrities.
