Your new album “I’ll take what I want” has just been released! What was the best moment during its preparation? And the most difficult one?
Best moment was listening to the final mix and saying yea man its banging!
The most difficult was finding the time to get into the studio as our touring schedule was so mental last summer.
We found it though and recorded it in two days.
Is there a link, lyrically speaking, between all its songs?
Not really, we sing about all sort of everyday stuff, politics, animals and banana theft which resulted in the band being on the run in Europe
What inspired the verses of “I don’t trust a word you say”?
Political meltdown here in the UK with Brexit and the youth being sold out. Also the continual lies being told by British politicians leading up to the vote.
Do you remember writing “fall to pieces”?
Yes, I wrote it one morning on my upright piano.
It came together very quickly.
Some ideas take ages to come together but not this one.
It happened quick and managed to make the album as I wrote it week before we were due in the studio so we didn’t have much time to work it up as a band.
And “the estate”?
yea another quick song.
Got the idea it happened fast arranged it and then recorded it. We tried not to much around much with this record.
What is the best verse you ever wrote?
Funny enough for me it’s the Verse in ’we fall to pieces’
How do you usually write the lyrics of your songs?
Various ways but generally follow my instinct and if we’ve got something on our minds we just go for it and write about it.
What is the last song you wrote?
Last completed song was ‘I don’t trust a word you say’ which was the lead single from the album.
What does music mean to you?
Everything…..
What makes you happy in life?
Music, animals and surfing.
