How do you usually write the lyrics of your songs?
I don’t THINK when I write – I feel & allow the song to reveal itself to ME.
In your opinion, what is the most important thing in songwriting?
It’s important to LET GO in order to allow the song to come from an authentic/honest place.
Are you ever scared of revealing aspects of your personal life/experience to strangers through your music?
Never. I think vulnerability is a powerful thing. The thought of my stories/experiences helping people is THE reason I am doing this.
What is the best lyric that you ever wrote (the most meaningful for you)?
“Out my pipes
A ray of light
From down below.
I hide my stripes
With all my might
But I overflow.”
Our song “November” on our EP was the first time I spoke on my father’s death. It’s a very special song to me.
What inspired “I’m Off”, off of your self titled EP?
“I’m Out” off of our self titled EP DEITRE was inspired when I had reached a breaking point in being mistreated/judged. I realized that anyone that has a problem with what I wear or how I act or what I say can literally kick rocks.
Do you remember the day you wrote your self titled EP?
I remember everything. I even remember the fucking lighting in the room. I remember where Pete and I were sitting/standing when the song came OUT. “I’m Out” was literally written in less than an hour.
Is there a link/a common theme among the songs of the new album?
“Self Love” is probably the biggest theme. Walking away from things that are toxic & having the balls to chase your dreams.
What is the best suggestion your Producer/Co-writer gave you?
“Here, hit this.”
What are your plans for 2019?
We have our next music video to “Jesse” coming out next month so keep an eye out for that. Followed by a couple of singles in preparation for our next EP due out this Summer 2019.
