RYL: Your new single is titled “Red Eye”…. why this title?  What inspired its lyrics?

ASHLEE KEATING: As an artist I am always traveling and I do take red eye’s a lot. The song & lyrics really relate to me and who I am as an artist.

The song and lyrics talk about missing someone you love and being busy working and away so I’m taking a red eye back home and will be there as soon as possible to see them.

RYL: What is the most important thing you need to have near to you when you write a song?

ASHLEE KEATING: Definitely my acoustic Gibson Guitar, notebook and a pen, as well as my laptop.

RYL: Is there a common meaning/theme between all the songs of the album?

ASHLEE KEATING: Right now there really is no theme. I’ve been working really diligently on my EP and new songs and just more of vibing and writing songs from scratch right now on guitar and going from there.

I can’t really say there is a meaning/theme behind it just yet, but I’m very excited about where it’s going!

RYL:  Do you remember how the lyrics of “Ice Kingdom” have been written?

ASHLEE KEATING: Yes! I heard about this campaign with Coca Cola and decided to write a song for it and see what would happen. I had to write a song about one of my favorite places.

I had visited the Queen Mary in Long Beach California the previous year and during the holiday season they transform everything into an ice kingdom.

Everything is ice sculptures and made of ice. It really puts you into the holiday spirit in the middle of California and really inspired me while I was there to write this specific song “Ice Kingdom” for the Coca Cola campaign.

RYL: how do you, usually, write the lyrics and music of your songs?

ASHLEE KEATING: First, I normally will just write my lyrics and songs by getting on the guitar and freestyling melody and lyric ideas, or I will listen to a track and write the melody and lyrics to that track.

I love to collaborate with other writers/artists/producers and work on my songs with them too. When writing my lyrics I take my life experiences and what I have going on in my life.

I want my fans to really relate to my music and lyrics and be like wow, I’m going through the same thing too or I really relate to this song!

RYL: Tell us everything about “Helluva Ride”, why have you selected this song?

ASHLEE KEATING: “Helluva Ride” was a really fun up tempo dance track. Loved working on it. However, I am always reinventing my sound and artistic feel as an artist and I am excited about my new music I have been working on and what’s to come!

RYL: When you will release a new album, what can you tell us about it?

ASHLEE KEATING: Right now, there are no specific details on this to share with you.

RYL:  How Los Angeles is influencing your music?

ASHLEE KEATING: I love Los Angeles! It’s a great city. I’ve been working with a lot of incredible producers/writers and there’s so much talent there. I love everyone’s creative vibe.

RYL: Which is the last song you wrote (not published yet)?

ASHLEE KEATING: Sorry, I don’t want to share that information just yet. Stay tuned for all of this ;).

RYL: You are planning a tour…tell us more about it! Which surprises you planned for your fans?

ASHLEE KEATING: I have no specific details to share just yet, but I absolutely love touring and seeing and getting out and being able to meet my fans!
