How do you usually write the lyrics of your songs?
I write the lyrics to my songs by using personal experiences as inspiration. basically putting my feelings about a certain experience on paper.
Are you ever scared of revealing, aspects of your personal experience, to strangers through your music?
sometimes, but I feel like people can learn from these stories and such, just as I did. Yes, it is scary to put your feelings and most vulnerable self out for everyone to see, but I think that’s the only way for people to understand and connect with you.
What has your journey in the music industry been like up to now?
It’s been pretty rough, but not with the people there to help, it’s more of the people who aren’t supportive. The critics. But I don’t let it get to me because I love what I’ve put out there and I’m proud of it.
What was the soundtrack to your childhood?
young, dumb and broke by Khalid, that describes my whole life until now.
What was the first record you ever bought?
I wish i could say it was something meaningful or whatever, but I’m pretty sure it was something like one direction or a high school musical soundtrack.
Musically speaking , who is your best inspiration?
Shawn Mendes. He’s so musically talented and his lyrics just always make me feel something.
What is your favorite song (not written by you) lyrically speaking?
Vincent, in the version of James Blake. It’s completely gorgeous.
What inspired “It’s not ok” ?
I had a friend who caused me to have lots of self confidence issues, and personal problems and she didn’t even realize what she was doing. It’s just not okay what she did to me and “It’s Not OK” is me expressing how she made me feel while we were friends.
What are your plans for 2018?
My plans are to hopefully come out with more music and covers and really expand my fan base 🙂
