RYL: Great news! You are going to play at the 2015 Vans Warped Tour this summer! 2015 started great for you guys! What are you planning to do in the first months of the new year?

SPLITBREED: Yeah thank you we appreciate it  when we first found out we’re gonna be playing the vans warped tour is was a dream come true we always wanted to play that type of tour that we’ve been going to our whole life since were little kids. such a great honor.

The first part of this year were actually just to be working on music man we took a little time off from playing shows so we could actually focus on some music in the studio get a lot of content ready for all the fans because we feel like it’s not slowing down anytime soon so we better be prepared

RYL: Your last album is titled “Mile High Club”, Is there a common “theme” among the lyrics of your songs?

SPLITBREED: Actually the theme high mile high club was it matched our airplane theme because everything we do has a lot to do with aviation and aerodynamics another thing about it is we always like to consider ourselves moving and moving forward and lifted off the ground and try to strive to get as high as we can get so yeah Mile high club just means about us trying to push to the highest limits of your capabilities…..

Oh yea and making love to a beautiful woman while on a plane but we all know that.

RYL: Tell us everything about the song “Freakshow” (our favorite)….which of its verses you like the most?

SPLITBREED: Freak show that’s one of our favorites as well we have to say when you know we will really favorite verses you know me and my brother Taui we Chyna we got a right on verses together so we know el every verse has his own unique qualities. people seem to enjoy that song a lot I think it’s cause it’s gonna fun “we don’t give a fuck type attitude”

RYL: how do you, usually, write the lyrics of your songs?

SPLITBREED: that’s a great question, we usually sit together in a room kalani, taui, Kyle and we sit together and we come up with a concept and  we try to work together on it you know, we are a group so you know when we do a writing session we usually do it all together.

RYL: Which is the best verse you ever wrote?

SPLITBREED: that’s another great question.there’s actually no favorite verses I mean we write so many verses that the way it works out is the one to make the cut to the songs that we put out usually are our favorite ones.

But, if I had to go back to probably one of my favourite verses, it would be the opening verse an afterlife I had a lot of had a lot of meaning no it’s one of our more serious song so you know yeah that was probably one of the favorite ones

RYL: Do you remember the day you wrote “Afterlife” what inspired its lyrics?

SPLITBREED: The lyrics an afterlife actually have a lot of meaning in directly inspired by the way that we feel.

When  you make music and put it  out, it kind of makes you live forever because even after you’re gone the music is still going to live on.

The song is basically about sacrificing a lot of things that most people wouldn’t,  to do music for a living and  how affects your family  your girl are everything in your life.

Pretty much when you dedicate yourself to music you pretty much put everything  else on the back burner.

RYL: If we give you 1 $ to spend in music, which song would you buy?

 10888817_809749595733675_5590552034791113442_n

SPLITBREED: Damn that’s a tough one! Probably would have to go with………Phil Colin’s – In the Air Tonight!

RYL: Let’s go back to touring; until today, which was the best show you have done?

SPLITBREED: Man so many!  some of the notable ones would be like probably Avalon in LA. Yost theater .Extreme thing music fest was awesome in Las Vegas we also played EDC Las Vegas on top of the Mayan art car that was amazing yeah they’re all amazing in their own unique way.

RYL: “Going for the gold” appears to be one of the fans favorite, what inspired its verses?

SPLITBREED: That song is actually inspired by us  three sitting together watching the Olympics!  and you know that’s  our attitude that we have. you know everything that we do we try to try to aim for the best and if you’re not trying to be the best you’re not doing your job right.

So going for the gold can kind of relate to everybody.  The verses basically just mean you  trying to do the best you can to strive for greatness!
