rockyourlyricsRYL: Tell us about your last album “Is everybody listening?”…..what inspired it? When do you plan to release it?
ZOAX – Well first off, hello 🙂 For this release the writing process was quite different for us. We spent so much more time in really creating the sound, that we set out to achieve in the first place. Every single one of us in the band writes all kinds of different sounding materiel, so the process was really good fun to see what everyone has to bring to the table.
“Is Everybody Listening?” Is released on the 9th of Feburary 2015, and we can’t wait.
RYL: Is there a common “theme” among the lyrics of your songs?
ZOAX – Not really. I just like creating stories. Sometimes the lyrics could be just pure fun or intense. It really depends on the music for me.
RYL: Which is your favorite song to play live? We love “Lonely Souls”, what inspired it?
ZOAX – Right now it’s a brand new song called “Click”. It’s just incredibly good fun, and has an ending that is probably one of my favourite moments that we have ever written.
Thank you very much for the kind words for “Lonely Souls”. As our first single, we wanted to just make sure it had all the dynamics that we strived to achieve.
RYL: how do you, usually, write the lyrics of your songs?
ZOAX – I always wait for the music first. Unfortunately, I’m not one of those lucky vocalists who can just write lyrics for tracks that have not yet been written. In fact, I think I’ve just realised what I should ask Santa for this Christmas. Thanks.
RYL: Which is the best verse you ever wrote?
ZOAX – The second verse for “Click”. It’s hard to explain, but once you hear it you will understand why. Groove, groove and groove.
RYL: which is the best verse of “Zero point seven”?
ZOAX – The second one also (the second verses are what we do best). I just love how the drums compliment my vocal. I like Jonny’s drumming quite a bit.
RYL: how did you write “Innocent Eyes”?
ZOAX – It was one of the weirdest things. We met up for practice, plugged in and boom “Innocent Eyes”. To this day, it still blows my mind.
RYL: Tell us about the upcoming tour, where will you play?
ZOAX- We are currently on the road right now with the nicest guys ever and good friends, Baby Godzilla. Such a pleasure, and the shows have been incredible fun. Tour is the best.
RYL: What is the most important thing in doing music?
ZOAX- To not be a giant arsehole. It never helps any band. Be nice and enjoy the opportunity you get, and the amazing people you can meet
