Kurt Baker Combo Premieres New Video “Sick of Waiting”

“It’s got some new wave influence on it, it’s definitely one of the more power pop songs on the record,” Baker says. “We are trying to move away from that power pop sound, but you can’t escape your roots. I’m proud of all the pop songs I’ve written in the past, and this one came out nice.“

The Combo’s second album for Steven Van Zandt‘s Wicked Cool label expands on the primarily power pop foundation of their last effort, 2016’s In Orbit (“a fast-paced, high-energy ride” – The Big Takeover). Let’s Go Wild! finds the foursome stretching out. “There was a definite intent to go into uncharted musical territory for the Combo with this record,” Kurt says. “I think we were successful, because it still sounds like us, but it’s different.“

Garage rock evangelist Steven Van Zandt has been a Baker booster for years now, featuring seven prior Kurt tracks as his weekly “Coolest Song In The World,” on Little Steven’s Underground Garage. The latest full-length release from Wicked Cool Records,’ Let’s Go Wild! manages to live up to its ambitiously energetic title.
