6th July 2022 saw the first day of the 5th edition of Mad Cool Festival take place with Metallica headlining alongside Twenty One Pilots and Placebo. Other artists on the bill included Wolf Alice, Carly Rae Jepsen, SFDK, Catnaap, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Yungblud, Fever333 and Chvrches among others. The welcome return of Mad Cool has started with 29 performances by national and international artists and the audiences have been able to enjoy the festival more than ever.
With 70,000 people and full capacity, on this first day of the five in total, audiences have been able to enjoy the eclectic program on seven different stages.
Metallica performed on the “Stage Mad Cool,” the festival’s main stage. This stage, of over 15 meters high, made us vibrate with its 60 audio consoles and more than 200 loudspeakers that made sure that the public did not miss a single detail of the legendary band’s live show.
Other headliners Placebo and Twenty One Pilots who both put on an incredible show on the “Stage Madrid is life”. With 300 square meters of screens, it was also the perfect place for Wolf Alice, who opened the stage this year.
On Stage 3 “Region of Madrid”, groups like Chvrches, Carly Rae Jepsen, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes… played exhilarating sets on the stage known for being located next to the iconic entrance, with its awe-inspiring giant sign.
Santa Salut, SFDK,  and Fever 333 delighted audiences on Stage 4, the famous “The Loop Powered by Iberdrola”, the tent is 4,000 meters and has a capacity of 9,000 making these performances totally unforgettable.
Once again Mad Cool becomes a musical and cultural benchmark for both Madrid and Spain, attracting national and international audiences and fast becoming one of the most recognized festivals of the moment thanks to its commitment of wide-ranging booking of legacy groups like Metallica, emerging talent and a huge emphasis on local groups…
The safe points at Mad Cool were led by the associations Aspacia and LGTBIQA+ MZ. These are support points for all people who need information and/or professional help related to violence against women and the LGBTIQA+ community. These points will be open every day with different programs until the closing of the festival, and will be able to respond to any incidents.
Today, Thursday, July 7th, groups and artists such as Imagine Dragons, The Killers, St. Vincent, Deftones, Sigrid, Black Pumas, Beabadoobee, Mother Mother, Peggy Gou, CL, Nothing But Thieves will perform.
Andreew, one of the winners of the latest Mad Cool Talent by Vibra Mahou contest will also take the stage, amongst all the other artists that continue to make Mad Cool an unforgettable experience.
