Fred Durst (lead vocals of Limp Bizkit) was a big fan of Korn and once, after a concert, he convinced the bassist Reginald “Fieldy” Arvizu to come to his place for some beers and a free tattoo (Fred was doing also tattoos at that time)…Korn decided to bring the band in tour with them and, starting from that moment, their audience grew rapidly.
In fact, Durst was an able marketer, he made the band very famous in Jacksonville in Florida…. He was litteraly going door by door, school by school, record shop by record shop promoting the band.
They became so famous that once, in a concert, the already famous band Sugary Ray opened for them in a local club, can you image that?
Limp Bizkit is one of the first band, if not the first band, that mixed HipHop/Rap with Heavy Metal/Hard Rock creating a new genre called Nu Metal……..the year was 1994….. 19 years a go.
Since then, they sold 40.000.000 copies.
Other band members are: Wes Borland (guitar), Sam Rivers (bass), John Otto (drums) and DJ Lethal (turntables, keyboards).
The band released till today seven studio albums, the last one will be released in 2013, few days a go, in Facebook the band said : “Our new album may be too raw and psychotic for some of you. If so, tough luck. It’s important to me that this album is something to help you…feel. My mind is in your gutter.”
The title? Most probably it will be called: “Stampede of the disco elephants”
From the third album titled “Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water” we selected two songs “My Way” and “Take a look around”
My Way, can’t be any clearer….. it is a warning……or we do thinks on my way or…….it is highway……Fred clearly says that is enough……he says that to his love? We don’t think so…..he says that to the record company……
Take a look around is a song about hate, that is everywhere, he is basically saying to the crowd, why you are loosing time in hating us , our music? Life is very short and fast….live it and make sure you take the best out of it……..do something!
