Are you happy about the success obtained by your album “New Skin”?
Yes I am, just to be in a position to release my songs and have people connect is a great thing.
There is always more to do, more places to reach…
Is there a link between all its songs, lyrically speaking?
Looking back, I feel like they were all about me trying to find something or coming from that sort of place.
New Skin was me looking at myself and the world and and trying to figure out who I wanted to be.
What does music mean for you?
Music is my lifeline. It’s my therapy, it’s an outlet – possibly the healthiest one that I have. It’s such an intrinsic part of me.
What is the best verse you ever wrote?
I can’t say, I’m pretty indecisive and resonate with different things on different days.
But ok, today I could say it’s one of the verses on a new song of mine called Better Off.
And the one of your favorite song?
A song called Waiting In Vain by Bob Marley – it always breaks my heart.
What inspired your new song something ’bout our love?
So many things, disco music I was listening to a lot of 80s disco that I used to listen to growing up.
The song itself is about a toxic relationship, when I was younger and didn’t know any better.
Do you remember the day you wrote “melt”?
Yes I do, it was summer and I was sitting upstairs with James and Andy of HONNE in their home studio.
What is your favorite Saturday night record?
Love Come Down – Evelyn “Champagne” King
Personal question – what makes you happy in life?
Writing songs, hearing people say they love the music, being content and…a good meal!
