RYL: “Pale Light” is the title of the new album that will be released in just a month! How are you preparing its launch?

EXALT (www.exaltband.com): We are just trying to get everything prepared through not only internet social media, but also through talking to people. A lot of prep work with our label and such is constantly getting done. We just shot a video as well.

RYL: Among the new songs released is “Greying”….What inspired its lyrics?

EXALT: The lyrics to Greying were based on just an idea. The idea of the Earth, and our humanly bodies being interconnected.

And with us slowly destroying the world, we slowly destroy the greater idea of Human and the body of Humanity in the process.

RYL: Is there a common meaning between all the songs of the album?

EXALT: Although Pale Light is, in no way, a concept record, a lot of the songs have a common theme. The slow destruction of Earth, and watching it perish and wither away.

And with this, we will too perish.

It wasn’t planned that a lot of the songs would be surrounding a similar topic, but it turned out to be a lot of what I was thinking about at the time.

We all want the aesthetic and visual aspect of this record to reflect that as well.

RYL:  Do you remember how you wrote “Old Vein”?

EXALT: Honestly, I’m not really sure. That song was written 2+ years ago. I think I wrote that on a 5 hour long bus trip.

I know that song is about feeling your body weaken. Mentally, and physically.

RYL: how do you, usually, write the lyrics of your songs?

EXALT: A lot are written while I am either alone in my room, or I also like to just sit by a pond near my house and just reflect.

I write everything on paper in a notebook and slowly revise it until I am happy with it.

RYL: Which is the best verse you ever wrote?

EXALT: There is a noise interlude on Pale Light called Palmcarver that is my favourite thing I have ever written.

I’ve burned holes in my hands because I’m sick of grasping all I can find. I’ve carved crosses in my palms, because all I touch is more divine than I.

I’ve etched three words into my wrists because time has etched my mind.

End all earth.

Clean all skin.

Fear all life.

RYL: Which is your favorite metal song of all time?

EXALT: Oh god, I am not sure. Let’s go with Converge – Jane Doe.

RYL: Which was the main difficulty you encountered in preparing this album?

EXALT: More frustration in wanting to record it than anything. It was over 2 years since we recorded our first record that we were able to record Pale Light.

RYL: When you will go on tour?

EXALT: November 8th-29th we will be in the states with Hollow Earth. Some of that run will also be with Run With The Hunted for their last tour.

We also have some more to announce in the coming weeks. Keep an eye out.
