Dubai Music Week, a venture between partners, Global Gumbo Group (G3) and DXB Live, in collaboration with Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC), was formally launched today (September 25) by three of the most powerful recording producers working in the music industry today.
Music legend Quincy Jones, joined by hip-hop/pop music producers Timbaland and Will.i.am addressed a room full of media interested in hearing their perspective on the UAE’s thriving music scene and what music fans can expect during the course of the week.

The trio will join moderator Ben Fong-Torres on stage tonight at 8:00 PM in the Emirates Theatre in Sheikh Saeed Hall 1 at the Dubai World Trade Centre to discuss the evolution of music production and the role technology plays today. Audience members will also witness history in the making, as the producers choose the regions’ first ever crossover Arab star.
Five talent artists have one shot – one song, to impress the judges enough to receive a contract from Quincy Jones to produce one international hit song and music video through the Global Gumbo Group, in partnership with Sony Music Middle East.

Dubai Music Week, which is being presented in association with Dubai Calendar, official Partner Emirates and official sponsor Pepsi, marks the first industry trade show in MENA which brings together all the major music labels, artists and merchants to exhibit their products and launch initiatives to key industry stakeholders and consumers. It will run from September 24 – 29 and include a host of seminars, panel discussions and live concert performances from global industry personalities.
