Rising R&B singer/songwriter Savannah Cristina is kicking off 2021 with the release of her alluring new single, “Body Work,” on Warner Records. The 23-year-old South Florida singer, songwriter, and poet brings every bit of her captivating personality to the table in the song, which focuses on the small moments that build toward the peak of a budding romance. Listen HERE.
Written By Savannah and produced by HERO, “Body Work,” floats above a slow-motion beat, singing about the adventures she’s seeking: “I can‘t even lie, I’m a certified freak / Love to make a promise that this body can’t keep.” The directness and seductive symbolism of “Body Work” reflects Savannah’s overall approach as an artist: “She’s never afraid to reveal her true thoughts and feelings. In the sensual video for “Body Work,” Savannah puts her body to the test in a series of hot and steamy workouts.”
I wrote ‘Body Work’ one night at the studio after a long day of being in quarantine,” said Cristina. “I was in my grey sweats, eating snacks and feeling ‘no-so-sexy.’ I was honestly missing how it felt to be feeling myself like I usually do. When I started writing to the production, this sensual, confident persona took over me. I knew that this would be my anthem. The song I danced to in the mirror after a shower, the song I played when I tried on a new sexy outfit. At a time where bodies are so heavily policed and controlled, Body Work is a symbolic ode to taking ownership of your autonomy. Your body is a work in progress…and it should always work to suit your lifestyle and happiness.
Body Work” is Savannah’s first single since the October release of her critically acclaimed debut EP, ‘SELF CARE,’ which nestled her heavenly vocals within soothing beats that drew on classic ’90s R&B. Savannah bares all on the seven-track project, radiating emotional healing and a newfound deeper self-love through reflective, therapeutic lyrics and “soul therapy.” Get SELF CARE HERE.
Following the buzz around the EP’s breakout single “Self Care” which has garnered over 6.6 million YouTube views, Savannah received praise from Alicia Keys and acknowledgment from various media outlets.
Savannah’s star power shines even brighter when she hits the stage. In 2020, she produced a socially distanced sold-out show at the Dezerland Park drive-in in her hometown of Miami. She also gave breathtaking acoustic performances on MTV’s #AloneTogether Jam SessionQuibi’s Musicology, and the pre-event for the Roots Picnic Virtual Experience, wherein she gave a heartfelt rendition of Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come.”
“Body Work” is just a taste of what Savannah has coming. Savannah will perform a Valentine’s Day Lovers Concert—a three-song set on Instagram Live featuring lingerie, wine, roses, and chocolate. All of this is happening as she finishes up work on a new EP, set to arrive this spring. If “Body Work” is any indication, it’ll provide an even deeper, more intimate look into one of R&B’s most exciting young minds.
