Rising Brit talent Lily Denning (Wildlife Management – Arctic Monkeys, Miles Kane, Royal Blood) follows on from debut pop banger ‘Armageddon’ with ‘Me, Myself & I’ – LISTEN HERE (via AWAL).
Everything has been falling into place for Lily – who, with refreshing sonic snapshots of young adulthood, mixed with a striking visual aesthetic – is cementing herself as one to watch. Having already garnered the support of BBC Introducing, Denning leant her vocals to Mahalo & DMLT for their track ‘So Cold’ earlier this year, which sat in the Top 10 of the Billboard dance charts for weeks and has totalled over 10,000,000 combined streams to date.
“Me, Myself & I”, her latest offering, was co-written by Denning, Nick Atkinson and Edd Holloway (Lewis Capaldi). Loaded with attitude, Denning’s vocals pour over a thumping beat to deliver a defiant message: and it’s a pull straight back down to reality for anyone that felt as though they needed to find comfort in another just for the sake of it.
Lily says: “Me, Myself & I is about relying on myself as opposed to someone else for validation. It’s about learning to love your own company whilst shutting down the presumption that you would rather be with someone else than being on your own.”
It’s this inimitable pairing of confessional lyricism, a sense of relatable vulnerability in Lily’s vocals, and the careful curation of her own brand of catchy millennial-pop that’s seen Denning on a steady incline since the start of 2019 – and she’ll certainly be one to watch over the next few months.
