RYL: Your 3rd EP is on its way….when do you plan its release? What inspired most of its songs?

Callista: Hopefully it will be out this year at some point. The songs, like all of them, are based on people and experiences in my life.

RYL: Tell us everything about the song “Hemingway”?

Callista: A while back I wrote a short story which was loosely based on an Ernest Hemingway novel. It’s about the break down of a relationship.

RYL: Is there a common meaning/theme between all your songs?

Callista: It changes from song to song but common themes are anxiety and loneliness.

RYL: When you first started to make music?

Callista: As Callista, back in 2012. When I was in year 8 at school I wrote a song on acoustic guitar for my assessement in music. It was pretty awful, I don’t play guitar all that much any more.

RYL: how do you, usually, write the lyrics and music of your songs?

Callista: Our guitarist Dave will write the entire song, bar the vocals. Then he will record a demo of it and send it to all of us.

At that point we all learn it and I write the lyrics. I actually enjoy writing so usually I have some bits and pieces I’ve already written so lyrics usually get finished pretty fast.

RYL: Do you remember the day you wrote “The Burden of Existence”?

Callista: Not really. That’s a terrible answer, sorry.

RYL: Which is the most important thing for you while doing music?

Callista: It depends what you mean by “doing music”. If you mean playing a show the most important thing for me is to do the best I can. Which I suppose would be the same answer if you meant writing.

RYL: Which is the best verse you ever wrote?

Callista: I hate all my lyrics

RYL: Which is the last song you wrote (not published yet)?

Callista: A new track. So new it doesn’t have a name yet.

RYL: which is the meaning behind “In My Blood”?

Callista: In My Blood is basically me wondering if I’m doing the right thing, and making the ones I love proud.
