The DJ sets by Jarvis Cocker, Tim Burgess (The Charlatans) and Richard Colburn (Belle And Sebastian) complete the line up on the Seat Village Stage
This year’s edition of minimúsica in the Parc del Fòrum will include a free concert by the Big Band de l’Escola Concepció and a drumming class given by Todd Trainer from Shellac
With just 17 days to go before the first notes ring out, the nineteenth edition of Primavera Sound enters the home straight. And we do so by revealing the much awaited set times for the festival, which over the last 48 hours have been disclosed on the social media of Lotus, to users who asked for them through the campaign #AskLotus. Also a few last names join the line up, in this case old friends of the festival, and at the same time the map of the stages in the Parc del Fòrum is now available, which as usual includes several surprises. The complementary programme of minimúsica, Flatstock and the record fair put the finishing touches to the Barcelona festival just, let us remind you, 17 days before it all starts!
1. SET TIMES AND NEW ADDITIONS TO THE LINE UP
Let the calculations, route planning and preparations begin. Check out all the Primavera Sound 2019 set times on the web page.
Also, the line up will be completed by three special DJ sets that will close the main nights on the Seat Village Stage in the Parc del Fòrum. Jarvis Cockerwill be the music selector closing the party on Thursday 30th May, Tim Burgess (The Charlatans) will do the honours on Friday 31st May and Richard Colburn (Belle And Sebastian) will put the icing on the cake on the night of Saturday 1st June.
At the same time, we are sorry to announce that, due to personal reasons, Vicky Groovy will not be able to play at Primavera Sound. In her place Phosky will play as part of the showcase by the Femnøise collective, together with Isa·bel and Xols.
2. THE MAP
Changes of location, new distances, stages that aren’t what they seem, a remodelled entrance to the festival… A bird’s-eye view of Primavera Sound2019 in the Parc del Fòrum.
3. MINIMÚSICA
For yet another year, Primavera Sound will be a family-friendly festival through the minimúsica space that this year offers more proposals than ever, whilst moving its location within the Parc del Fòrum site. On Wednesday 29th May, the free inauguration day of the festival in the Parc del Fòrum, the Big Band de l’Escola Concepció (with over 20 members between the ages of 12 and 13!) will give the starting signal for the space. It will be a fantastic chance to see the fruit that this school’s commitment to musical education bears. Saturday 1st June will be a special day for many reasons. To start with, because we will have, as always, a series of concerts that this year will be 100% female: Alondra Bentley, Cariño, Aloha Bennets and Cactus will perform on this stage giving it all for the families. And it will also be special because the unique Todd Trainer, drummer for Shellac will be giving personalized drumming classes for those minis who want to experience what it feels like to play –or want to learn new tricks on– this instrument. The activity is free but places are limited.
As well as this, there will be activities from a travelling circus (slackline, juggling…) and other games that will go on non-stop during the opening hours. There will also be a space for sensory games for the 0-3 year olds, and a series of services to cover all families’ needs baby changing facilities, breastfeeding pillows, microwaves, highchairs, adapted toilets, etc.
And if on Sunday 2nd June you still have the energy, minimúsica will once again start off the free day of Primavera al Raval in the CCCB to enjoy one of the most interesting family spectacles of the year: the Sempre de vacances by 2princesesbarbudes.
4. FLATSTOCK AND RECORD FAIR
Once again and for the eighth consecutive year, the touring show of concert posters Flatstock visits Barcelona with Primavera Sound. Giving us the unique opportunity to participate in an international meeting between music and the most underground of visual art. Flatstock, a project created by the non-profit organisation American Poster Institute and dedicated to the promotion of music posters, is located on the Parc del Fòrum site (in a new place this year, near their usual spot) where music lovers have access to a great variety of works by different artists and countries. For the first time this year, some of the posters and exhibition pieces can be seen in the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) in the framework of the celebration of this year’s edition of PrimaveraPro.
The main independent record labels have been showing their products to the Primavera Sound audience at the record fair for seventeen years already. With a new location in the access area to the two main stages of the festival, the traditional date will once again be packed with records and specialized press where music lovers will be able to find an exclusive selection of vinyl records, tee shirts and other articles in tune with the spirit of the festival. Many of the labels will be represented by their artists within the framework of the Barcelona event.
