Fast-rising vocalist/instrumentalist Spencer Ludwig has released a colorful live performance of his latest single, “My Trumpet” from his residency at the Hotel El Ganzoin San Jose, Cabo.
The fashion-forward, pop maverick ignites the track with velvety vocals, smooth melodies and seductive trumpet solos that create a perfect groove, topped off with award-winning, Latin rapper MC Davo‘s fiery verse. The dance-driven video for “My Trumpet” also serves as a love letter to Mexico City, showcasing the beautiful scenes the city has to offer.
Spencer Ludwig points to one of his all-time favorite performances, which was at the Boom Boom Room at the top of the Standard Hotel in NYC, as his inspiration for the track.
Corey Chorus and Kenna Funken [co-writers on the track] remembered me as being powerfully seductive performing on top of the bar with my trumpet and so we combined all of the imagery from that night into a love story that is a mixture of all of our experiences from that night.”
This is the follow-up single to “Just Wanna Dance“, which ushered in the next phase of Spencer’s career as an independent artist. The track, which is all about shedding the pressures of a hyper-plugged-in world, quickly surpassed 100,000 streams on Spotify.
I want to give an edge to the trumpet in pop music like no one ever has,” said Spencer about his musical ethos. “I’m not a trumpeter that writes songs though; I’m an artist who also plays the trumpet.
Spencer is already primed for a big 2018. YouTube chose him as one of ten acts for its prestigious “Artists In Residence” program. He kicked off the year opening for The Chainsmokers, Jason Derulo, and Betty Who where he captivated audiences with his “one man show” and simmering dance moves. Spencer also wowed audiences at the iHeart Radio x Movie Pass event this year at Coachella as well as performing at the 2018 NFL Draft and Bonnaroo.
Since immediately emerging as an artist to watch in 2016, Spencer’s twist on modern funk and pop has earned him major attention and glowing praise. His first single “Diggy” racked up over 2.5 million Spotify streams, sound tracked a “Fall Style” campaign for Target and was featured prominently in the blockbuster film Happy Death Day, the popular video game Just Dance 18, and promos for NBC’s The Voice.
His 2017 single “Got Me Like“, gained popularity by gracing the soundtrack of
Madden 18 in addition to popping up in an Herbal Essences commercial and a spot for the NFL Honors, for which Spencer served as musical director two years in a row.
