Today, fast-rising vocalist / instrumentalist Spencer Ludwig has released his new video for his latest single, “Just Wanna Dance,” out now via Trumpet Records (Kobalt/AWAL). The video, which intercuts high energy live footage, talking emojis and eye-popping social media visuals, is all about shedding the pressures of a hyper-plugged-in world and not worrying about what’s happening on social media feeds. “This is a very DIY video made using screen recordings from my phone of my actual social media posting,” says Spencer. “It highlights how social media is so heavily intertwined in my life and often times an overwhelming amount, but this time I used it to also be creative and productive to produce this video which expresses my true desire to dance and enjoy life outside of social media.” “Just Wanna Dance,” which ushers in a new independent chapter of Spencer’s career, is ignited by a funkified falsetto refrain, a dancefloor-ready trumpet hook and irresistible finger snaps, creating a groove that perfectly embodies the song’s title. The fashion-forward, musical maverick sets himself apart with his impressive vocal delivery and wonderful, wild, and wailing trumpet solos, bringing a fresh dimension to the pop paradigm. Spencer is primed for a big 2018. YouTube chose him as one of ten acts for its prestigious “Artists In Residence” program. He kicked off the year opening for The Chainsmokers and Jason Derulo, and just wrapped up a tour with Betty Who that captivated audiences with his “one man show” and simmering dance moves. Next up, Spencer will be performing at Bonnaroo, Milwaukee Pride and more in the coming months. Since immediately emerging as an artist to watch in 2016, Spencer’s twist on modern funk and pop has earned him major attention and glowing praise. His first single “Diggy” racked up over 2.5 million Spotify streams, soundtracked a “Fall Style” campaign for Target and was featured prominently in the blockbuster film Happy Death Day, the popular video game Just Dance 18, and promos for NBC’s The Voice. “Just Wanna Dance” is the follow-up to Spencer’s 2017 single, “Got Me Like” , which graced the soundtrack of Madden 18 in addition to popping up in an Herbal Essences commercial and a spot for the NFL Honors, for which Spencer served as musical director two years in a row. |
