How do you usually write the lyrics of your songs?
My songs are typically reflective of the times. It’s a process of understanding a situation and creating an intent. Sometimes I start with a journal entry and then identify the core meaning of a song, and build a structure from there.
In your opinion, what is the most important thing in songwriting?
Lyrics with meaning.
Are you ever scared of revealing aspects of your personal life/experience to strangers through your music?
Yes. I am not a complete open book…yet. However, the next EP, The Magi is intended to be way more revealing.
What is the best lyric that you ever wrote (the most meaningful for you)?
“Start from the heart, let my dreams make the rules, let my soul shed the sound, so sensual. Wrapped up in love, it’s a bond I can’t break, the pathway only beauty awaits.” (From Foothills)
What inspired “Brighter,” part of your latest EP “Sunday”?
Brighter was the first song I ever wrote. It’s about the discovery of my inner light and courageously choosing to tap into my power and shine brightly.
And “Foothills”?
A foothill is literally the base of a mountain. This song is about standing at the base of a mountain ready to climb. After funding my entire Sunday EP via a crowdsourcing campaign, I had laid the groundwork for my music career, and felt motivated and inspired to climb the proverbial mountain of the music industry.
Do you remember the day you wrote “Dragon”?
I wrote Dragon after a trip to Burning Man where I met the man of my dreams, my muse, who became the source of inspiration for this song.
What are your plans for the last months of 2018?
Buckling down on songwriting for my second EP, The Magi.
