Today, British rockers The Wombats unveil the music video for Top 40 Alternative Radio hit “Turn,” which debuted exclusively on Apple Music. Watch the video here. The track has already reached 13.4 million total streams across DSPs, and the video follows within the same vein as previous singles “Lemon to a Knife Fight” and “Cheetah Tongue” surreal and amusing visuals. “There’s something about the pace of the song (coupled with the title of course) that suggested a constantly spinning visual to me,” director Brother Willis (Beirut, King Krule, Wolfmother) shared of the visual. “The lyrics so visually depict specific memories that it seemed like a logical way to show memories floating around inside Murph’s head. Also, I love disembodied brains.” “Turn” is featured on The Wombats’ new, Top 3 UK and Billboard 200 charting album BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE (out now on Kobalt Music Recordings). In support of the LP, the trio will take the stage at Lollapalooza 2018 in August as well as open for Weezer and The Pixies on select US dates this summer. See dates listed below. BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE has already racked up over41 million streams in total, with lead single “Turn” sitting at #1 on SiriusXM’s Alt Nation for six weeks after debuting as Annie Mac’s “Hottest Record In The World”on BBC Radio 1. Produced by Mark Crew (Bastille, Rag’n’Bone Man) and Catherine Marks (Wolf Alice), the album finds The Wombats pushing the boundaries of alt-pop innovation with a lush, ultramodern indie soundscape, irrepressible hooks and tragi-comic lyricism belied by a newfound maturity and moving emotional depth. The Wombats just completed a fully sold-out UK headline tour, finishing out with a sold-out London show at the 10,500 capacity venue Alexandra Palace. |
