how do you usually write the lyrics of your songs?

All kinds of ways, Debb eavesdrops on conversations as much as possible

tell us more about your new album  “These are Vitamins”……

It’s produced by John Agnello who we loved working with. We recorded it in 5 days. These songs are some of the most favorite we’ve ever written.

what inspired “Simulation” and “Ride”?

We’re fascinated by the exploration of parallell universes in physics and especially the theory that says we’re in someone else’s Simulation.

Ride came in a dream Mike had. We wanted the music to have a lot of forward motion so that was the keyboard’s job

what is the best verse you ever wrote?

That’s a tough one.. a contender is from “In the Sun” from the new record — “The prophets draw graffiti / Of a lifeboat to the moon / You can get it as a poster for your room”

Another is from “Fun with Hydrangeas” off our last EP. The title is taken from “Manchurian Candidate.”  The song is an homage to several conspiracy movies, and the verse is “The houseboy is Manchurian / Comas in room 8 / Building 7 is on fire / Chapman CIA”

and the one of your favorite song?

That’s tough too. These are classics..

– Joni Mitchell, “Blue” – “Songs are like tattoos / You know I’ve been to sea before / Crown and anchor me / Or let me sail away”

– Paul Simon, “America” – “Cathy I’m lost, I said, though I knew she was sleeping / I’m empty and aching and I don’t know why / Counting the cars on the New Jersey Turnpike…”

do you remember the day you wrote “In the Sun”?

We don’t ususally write a song in a day, but a day does come when we know we have a song. For “In the Sun” once we settled on the drone-like vibe it was easy to finish

what makes you happy in life?

Coffee, dogs, diners, old vertical non-working neon signs
