For us one of the best songs of The Smashing Pumpkins is “Tonight, Tonight” written by Billy Corgan in 1996 and part of the album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness”.

The lyrics of the song are talking about making the impossible, possible…….it is a song of hope.

Billy never really said what inspired them; it might be his difficult childhood, or, simply a story of love.

For sure the protagonist (Billy, of this we are sure since he said it in a interview) of the song is going through several changes in his life and he needs to believe in something to reach the light.

The strongest thing in which he should believe is in himself …..this will allow him to escape from his demons and reach happiness (light).

For many this song is just a contraposition of conscious and unconscious and how the live, fight and die together
