RYL: Your EP “Where I Belong” will be released in few weeks, which is the main challenge that you encountered while recording it? What does it mean for you, lyrically speaking?
Elasea: Actually recording wasn’t too much of an issue! Before we get to the studio we like to make sure we know the songs back to front, this way when we get in the studio we all know what we’re doing and it’s bish, bash, bosh!
Lyrically it’s a bit of a mixture, there isn’t a particular theme in the 5 tracks.
RYL: Tell us everything about the song “Lost in The Dark”
Elasea: Lost In The Dark is a hard one to explain! It’s about being there for someone that you love, but they aren’t particularly fussed.
The hook in the chorus “I’ll never be what you want from me” explains most of the song really!
RYL: Is there a common meaning/theme between all your songs?
Elasea: Unfortunately not, each track follows different lyrical themes. I think if we had wrote all the tracks closer together rather than spread out over the year, they may have all been following something similar.
RYL: how many songs have you written so far?
Elasea: I think right now we have possibly 10 original songs, since the EP we haven’t had a chance to start writing again!
Since the last time we wrote we have all found some new influences so we can’t wait to get back to it!
RYL: how do you, usually, write the lyrics and music of your songs?
Elasea: Normally someone will bring an idea to practice, where it’s a guitar riff or a lead melody, or sometimes even a drum beat! We tend to write the music then Liv goes away and writes the lyrics, passes them over to Andy and he adds the vocal line!
RYL: The Rolling Stones are singing “Time is on our side….”,what is behind the verses of “Time is against us”?
Elasea: Time Is Against Us is exactly what the title says! It’s about growing up and not wanting to let go of your youth. Basically about old age! Yes at 21, we are experiencing this.
RYL: Which is the most important thing for you while doing music?
Elasea: We want people to relate to our music in the same way that we relate to the bands who influence us.
RYL: and the best verse you ever wrote?
Elasea: A personal favourite verse from the EP is the 2nd verse in track 2 ‘Where I Belong’ – you’ll have to pick up the EP to hear it hehe 🙂
RYL: Which is the last song you wrote (not published yet)?
Elasea: The last song we wrote was track 1 on the EP, Glass Heart! We knew we needed an opening track to pull people in, luckily this one has done the job.
RYL: your tour project this summer?
Elasea: We haven’t got anything lined up at the moment, but hopefully there will be something at the end of the year! It will all be on Facebook & Twitter etc 🙂
